Your Options in a Criminal Court Matter

When we meet with clients, one of the first questions they ask is "what are my options"?

In most cases, there are three: plead guilty, plead not guilty, or negotiate.

Each path carries different consequences:
- A plea of guilty moves the matter to sentence.
- A plea of not guilty requires the prosecution to prove the case at trial.

In some matters, negotiation may result in amended facts, reduced charges or even discontinuance.

There is no single approach that suits every case. The strategy must align with your priorities, the evidence and the facts in your case.

If you are facing a serious charge, obtain advice early. The direction you take at the outset can determine the outcome.

Our criminal lawyers are available to discuss the options available to you.
